It's motivating to support a humanitarian project based on direct collaboration with the people on the ground in Ethiopia. I'm interested in discovering the reality of a country I'm not familiar with, and in providing concrete support and hope to the local population through a sustainable improvement in medical care. I admire the work the foundation is doing in Ethiopia. Through sheer determination and commitment, they have succeeded in setting up a medical infrastructure and training specialist staff on site. These are essential values that you find in your professional life, but also in cycling.
Taking part in this adventure is a unique opportunity to discover part of this country and its people and to really immerse yourself in nature, with a total change of scenery. Supporting the foundation by taking part in this expedition is obviously a great source of motivation.

I have been supporting humanitarian organisations for many years. As a doctor, supporting medical projects is particularly close to my heart. I am therefore extremely impressed by the work of Jörg Peltzer. And what could be better than helping locally by developing local infrastructure and expertise. Combining donations with a challenging team event is a cool idea and a challenge in this form for me as a keen cyclist.
A few years ago, I received a recognition award from the municipality of Wolhusen for my local commitment. At the award ceremony, I announced that I would increase the amount tenfold and donate it to the GOSTAR project. Unfortunately, something came up several times and I feared that the tour would not be repeated. It's great that I can now realise my wish after all. I'm looking forward to this bike event and to seeing and experiencing which country, which people and also which medical professionals and patients our commitment will help.

There are many challenges in life, some we can and must accept, others not!!!
We take many things for granted that can be achieved elsewhere with very great restrictions or disabilities.
I am doing so well and I would like to pass on some of my
"happiness and prosperity" and help where help is needed.
I am therefore very happy to be part of the challenge

Accident or trauma is the number one cause of death and disability in Africa. That is why I have been committed for decades to keeping a training hospital for trauma surgery in Jimma functional. GO STAR is the only point of contact and hope for adequate treatment for 25 million people. These bike tours allow me to show our sponsors the beauty but also the misery of Africa and enable them to visit our hospital, where we finance an operation with 30 francs.

I'm touched by and admire people like Pelé, a trauma doctor, who step out of their comfort zone and invest time and money in humanitarian projects. In Pelé's case, for the last 25 years, a concrete, pragmatic and well-managed project has ensured that people injured in an accident in Ethiopia have the same chance of recovery as if the accident had happened at home. It's a lesson in life and I want to contribute to it.

I was inspired by Hugo Herzog for Ethiopia. I am a helper by nature and love to support people who need help. In my home community of Küssnacht am Rigi, I am a volunteer driver for the SRC and also support a refugee family. Having just been on holiday in Cambodia, I am still in contact with a motivated young guide and am showing him how to draw up a business plan. I try to swim attentively in the river of life with a lot of decency and respect - so now here to give the people in Ethiopia a little more joie de vivre, confidence and support in the event of illness or accidents with the support of the hospital. It would make me very proud to be part of it!

I first heard about the GO STAR project from Bettina Schelker, who is actively involved herself, in mid-January 2024. During the Charity Night on 27 January 2024, I realised that this aid project is sustainable for the local people. The passion and power of "Pele" and his team was so invigorating for me that evening. I wanted to be part of it and registered for the Bike Challenge 24 the very next day - a challenge I was happy to take on.
As a physiotherapist with heart and soul, I have been able to help many people, especially in Asia, where I worked for 11 years. I can only confirm that you can achieve great things with little effort. Now I am looking forward to Ethiopia and especially to energetic donations so that GOSTAR can reach its goal again this year.

My meeting with Dr. Peltzer is dated 05.10. 2012 in the emergency department of Delémont. I am an example of the work and the man Jörg Peltzer does and what he does every day at the hospital and for the Foundation. I'm so lucky that I met Pele (my white brother).
With joy I support Pele in his actions to bring the donors closer to Ethiopia and to support them in convincing this project in the best possible way.
His training program for trauma surgeons is unique in Africa, many accidentally injured Ethiopians have already been helped and unnecessary amputations prevented.
Every time I think about it, I see an improvement and a hope for Ethiopia. I gladly took on these tasks:
